Cancer Care Card Program

The Cancer Care Card is one of the most streamlined methods of helping cancer patients financially. American Association for Cancer Support pre-programs the card with specific dollars amounts, and then mails them to cancer patients. They can use the card to purchase medicines, pay for co-pay or purchase other needed items anytime they need it.

2011 International Care Program – Guatemala

Below is the thank you letter from the recipient organization:

“Thank you American Association for Cancer Support for your generous donation of medicines for the treatment of cancer and associated symptoms. Approximately 75% of Guatemalans live below the poverty level. They do not have sufficient resources to purchase a basic basket of goods and much less basic services especially in the healthcare area. The medicines were distributed to Fundación Ayúdame a Vivir, the Children’s Cancer Foundation and the main hospital in Guatemala and Central America for the treatment of children’s cancer. This was a very special donation at a time of great need. The Foundation was running very low on cancer medications. This donation of Ciproflaxin, Endoxan and Ondansetron came at a very appropriate time. Our pharmacy was in dire need of all three medications for surgery and chemo therapy. These medicines helped alleviate the children’s pain and suffering. Many children received the benefit of the medication and we would estimate more than 3,000 were impacted. Thanks again American Association for Cancer Support. Your donation made a huge difference in the children’s lives. They now can look forward to less pain and a healthier future.
